City household recycling centre on the move

New centre to offer a much improved facility for residents of Peterborough to dispose of their household waste and recycling.

The current Household Recycling Centre (HRC) site in Dogsthorpe will be closing on Sunday 17 February, with a brand new site opening in Fengate on Monday 18 February.

The new HRC will be a much improved facility for residents of Peterborough to dispose of their household waste and recycling. The site has been designed to address current concerns experienced at the HRC in Dogsthorpe.

As well as being more than twice the size of the current site, the new HRC will also incorporate split level access (eliminating the need for steps whilst also keeping operational activity separate to public access); better traffic flow from a constant through road on both inside and outside levels; more space for vehicle parking as well as being undercover to improve the customer experience and reduce the likelihood of closure to adverse weather.

Initially, the site will be able to take a wider range of materials including mobile phones, spectacles, ink cartridges, books, CDs and DVDs and will be regularly reviewed to include further materials as they become viable. The site will still operate a van/trailer permit system, and all vehicle size restrictions will still apply.

New Site Opening Times

From 1 October - 31 March - Monday to Sunday: 8am - 4pm
From 1 April - 30 September - Monday to Sunday: 8am - 6pm
(Please note on Monday 18 February only the site will open at 10am due to staff training)
